Hand Gesture Recognition with Qualcomm Intelligent Multimedia SDK
Gesture-based interaction is becoming an increasingly important part of modern edge AI applications, enabling touchless control for robotics, industrial automation, smart kiosks, accessibility solutions, human-machine interfaces, and AR/VR experiences. In this project, you'll build a real-time hand gesture recognition pipeline using the Qualcomm Intelligent Multimedia (QIM) SDK, combining computer vision and AI inference to detect, track, and classify hand gestures directly on Qualcomm-powered edge devices. The application demonstrates how multiple AI models can work together in a hardware-accelerated pipeline to transform a live video stream into meaningful gesture commands. From hand detection through gesture classification, all processing occurs on-device, delivering low-latency performance while preserving privacy and minimizing network dependency.
