Hi Miles! I've just bought a small Neon Ampule and I want to make it glow with a Tesla coil for a university project. I bought a small Tesla Coil run via USB but the glow is rather dim (and blue, whereas it should glow orange - any idea why? Do you recon it's due to the gas pressure or the low power of the coil?). Anyway, any ideas how I can make it glow brighter, and orange?

But if that doesn't work, you can just get a CFL bulb or fluorescent tube and it will glow near the tesla coil. I hope it works out for you! 😄

There are two reasons your bulb won't glow bright orange. One the bulb is not filled with neon gas, it looks like it might be Argon or Xenon gasses that make it blue. you can get a neon bulb with neon gas and it should glow. But the other reason is that it may be a low frequency tesla coil. low frequencies might not light the blub all the way, so it may glow a dark blue color. here are some different gasses that make different colors when exited. ---> https://www.google.com/search?q=Neon+Ampule&rlz=1C1VDKB_enUS998US998&sxsrf=ALiCzsZdIEwv3SQGSLUIO3hj0WuXwgoF_A:1668360098938&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjVyrfY1av7AhUiJH0KHbcGAZwQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1920&bih=961&dpr=1#imgrc=10ob_LMNktPsaM
