Your objective is to pass through as many walls as possible without crashing. You can control the bird's movement using either a rotary knob or a distance sensor. Everything you need to build and play this game is included in the Plug and Make kit from Arduino. <h3>Needed material from the kit</h3>Before we begin, let's gather all the necessary components from the Plug and Make kit: <ol><li>The Arduino UNO R4. </li><li>Modulino Base with the spacers. </li><li>Modulino Distance. </li><li>Modulino Knob. </li><li>Modulino Buzzer. </li><li>Modulino Buttons. </li><li>Qwiic cables. </li><li>Screws and nuts. </li></ol> <figure><img src="https://projects.arduinocontent.cc/56e77e00-3c53-4067-836a-feddb9d571b0.jpg"/><figcaption></figcaption></figure><h3>Building the Simple Version of the Game</h3>We'll start by assembling a basic version of the game using the Modulino Distance sensor and the Modulino Knob. This version allows you to play using either of the two Modulinos, and you can choose the game mode by interacting directly with them. First, attach the Arduino UNO R4 and the necessary Modulinos onto the Modulino Base. Refer to the image below for the correct arrangement. <figure><img src="https://projects.arduinocontent.cc/e68455e7-a78e-4bfb-bab0-230762a9c338.jpg"/><figcaption></figcaption></figure>Once all the Modulinos are securely mounted on the yellow plate, connect them to the Arduino UNO R4 in a single chain using three Qwiic cables. <figure><img src="https://projects.arduinocontent.cc/e2cf94e6-2a6e-4c41-a8ba-8d56c30a8bef.jpg"/><figcaption></figcaption></figure>Download the simple version of the game code from <a href="https://github.com/lukdog/FlappyLED/releases/tag/v0.1">GitHub </a>and upload it to your Arduino UNO R4 using the Arduino IDE. After uploading the code, you can start playing. Once the starting animation completes, initiate the game by either placing your hand in front of the distance sensor or rotating the knob. <h3>Building the Complete Version of the Game</h3>To enhance the game, we'll add sound effects and a more intuitive way to select the game mode. For this, we'll incorporate the Modulino Buzzer and Modulino Buttons. Place the Buzzer and Buttons on the Modulino Base alongside the other components. Ensure that all components are correctly aligned as shown in the image below. <figure><img src="https://projects.arduinocontent.cc/c6087b9c-47a4-4335-b45f-0b208c245406.jpg"/><figcaption></figcaption></figure>Connect all the components, including the UNO R4, using four Qwiic cables, forming a single chain. Download the complete version of the game code from <a href="https://github.com/lukdog/FlappyLED/releases/tag/v1.0">GitHub </a>and upload it to the Arduino board using the Arduino IDE. Once the code is successfully uploaded, you're ready to play the full version of FlappyLED. Here are the available options: <ol><li>BUTTONS : Enable the use of buttons for selecting game modes and toggling mute. If disabled, the game will automatically start if a rotation is performed on the knob or if a presence is noticed in front of the distance sensor. </li><li>ENCODER_MODE : Enable the rotary knob mode for controlling the bird. </li><li>TOF_MODE : Enable the distance sensor mode for controlling the bird. </li><li>BUZZER : Enable sound effects using the buzzer. </li><li>ANIMATIONS : Enable animations for welcome message, game events, and mode selection. </li></ol>To disable a feature, simply comment out the corresponding #define line in the code.
