Hi, thanks for your viewing. The motor driver I use is TB6612FNG, better efficiency than L298N, very cheap, but the power rating is a bit low, works ok with small size device like Jrobot. There are plenty more powerful drivers on sparkfun, if you need them. Regards Joe

Hi Steve Thanks for your viewing. I use dc 12v motors with gear box, 200rpm, try to balance between torque and speed, budget range from ebay, not with the best efficiency. Compass is tricky, HMC5983 or HMC5883, the trick is it needs calibration on your device. there are many reference online on the topic, After I installed it on the robot, I turn it around a few times, log the raw data, draw the dots on office excel, then adjust the drawing to perfect circle. Even after that, it does not always give correct reading, interference from the circuits and nearby objects I guess. At this stage, I just read it, not yet use it to drive the robot. Logically the next stage, I will look into auto pilot, or a certain degree of auto pilot, then direction becomes critical. Direction can also come from GPS, cross check between the 2 sources maybe. Again thanks for your interest. Regards Joe
