I fumbled with Arduino 2 years ago 7/28/2017 and after calling your service they seemed to say I did not have the latest Windows software. So I through in the Towel. So here I am 2 years later 7/29/2019 trying again with a Lafin Kit. So starting with “Super Starter Kit for UNO R3.pdf” I Click “getting started”. At the next page it doesn’t tell me what to do next. I see on this page “MY DASHBOARD” , “NEW PROJECT”, “RESPECT PROJECT”, “FOLLOW”, “WRITE A COMMENT” and a bunch of other stuff but nothing about what to do next. So I clicked “WRITE A COMMENT” so I commented. I know I’m in for it so I switch myself to FUMBLE MODE.

Excellent idea! For me is a great way to proceed, because I use 2-3 computers in different locations to work on my sketch, which makes the sync a nightmare. Questions: I write my code, upload my libraries and do the wiring home. I have two groups of students, only one having access to internet. Questions: a) can I upload my libraries (supposing they are not from the ones already in the cloud) along with the sketch? b) can the students having access to internet work using my sketch, without damaging it by accident? c) can I download the sketch for the use of the group of students not having access internet? Thank you very much and I think the idea of web platform is brilliant!

00alis

a) yes you can upload your custom libraries, for more details see https://create.arduino.cc/projecthub/Arduino_Genuino/import-your-sketchbook-and-libraries-to-the-web-editor-296bb3#toc-importing-a-custom-library-4 b) you can share your sketch with your students, for details see https://create.arduino.cc/projecthub/Arduino_Genuino/share-your-sketches-on-the-arduino-web-editor-00a02c, students can 'clone' your sketch without damaging it into their own Sketchbook c) yes, you can download the code, click on the button by the Board dropdown '...' and click 'Download'

I am just starting with the Arduino software and have written a couple of programs to drive Seven Segment displays. However, I have just purchased a TM1638 and a TM1637 and when I try to compile the example (TM1638plus) or (TM1637) I get an error message saying avr-g++ no such directory or file. This is the same for all of the examples for various modules. How do I correct this? I notice that these examples do not appear on your on-line editor. Thanks. William

@saisanthosh you can use cloud.arduino.cc to upload a sketch via IoT @joven you can do an upload via network on your Yun (and soon also on the Yun Shield), unfortunately not on an Ethernet Shield, due to hardware limitations (in fact you cannot upload via network on it not even from the desktop IDE)

Can someone explain why we plug the 5V from the Arduino to the board but never use it? Or an overall explanation of the circuit diagram so I understand rather than just 'copy this.'

Anonymous user

The 5V dos not serve eny purpose here. it is only to supply the railing on the breadboard.

Anonymous user

You may want to clarify that you will need to download the plugin. The first part of this guide says you don't need to download anything to use the Web Editor to load programs to your board, but then you keep reading and you realize that you do need to download the plugin.

I work on a little projekt with ESP32 instead of Arduino. I think it is just more standard. I use also an online tool of our company to build the software. www.metayota.com even the ESP32 is enough fast for most tasks. It uses much less energy than comparable chips.

@Niall please open a thread with your issue on our Forum http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?board=101.0 so we can support you. I can confirm that the library is reporting an error when importing but it seems a problem related to that specific library, not the online IDE

I used IDE 11.8.5 for a while then made the mistake to "upgrade" to the Windows App (1.8.9). The compiling time has become very lengthy but with Web Editor everything seems much much faster. I wonder what server it runs on.

Awesome project!! Just what I needed after purchasing UNO and having a need to understand and apply all parts of the Arduino cloud editor! Great Job!

It's a great tool. I used it for over a jear, but now i found a bug: if I load the editor, the size of the search field increases. It's funny to watch, but after a few moments, it's annoying.

I am not really sure I understand the issue, please report the bug with screenshots on https://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?board=101.0, thanks!

How to add Node MCU board in arduino web editor?

00alis

We currently support only Arduino boards, you can use the desktop IDE for your Node MCU board

I am disappointed that I can not, when editing code use the right click to paste as the menu forces the cursor to a position where "Paste" can be seen. It is complicated by my using a large font - 16 so that I can read test easily. I have difficulty closing a file or changing focus when more than one file is open.

I like the ability to add a description and the wiring diagram to the sketch. However, no mention is made as to what software is used to create the pictorial wiring diagram. I have used Autodesk Circuits to create but do not know how to export the diagram so I can pull it into the Sketch. Help Please.

pert

I think they use Fritzing. As for how to export, the Arduino Web Editor supports all common image files so you just need to export as one of those. If your application doesn't support that then just do a screenshot, paste it into an image editing program, crop, and save.

Does it detect Arduino Yun over wifi? I have Yun board but the online IDE does not detect it. Any specific instructions for detection over wifi ?

00alis

Yes it does! Have you set up your Yun to be connected to the Internet?

Anonymous user

Yes, The yun is connected to Internet. (I will verify with old Arduino IDE) Assuming its connected, the yun device name along with IP will be shown under select board/port tab ?

Exactly, and you just need to select it as a target to perform the network upload, let us know if you are able to do it!

I work on a little projekt with ESP32 instead of Arduino. I think it is just more standard. I use also an online tool of our company to build the software. www.metayota.com even the ESP32 is enough fast for most tasks. It uses much less energy than comparable chips.

Thanks. William

You may want to clarify that you will need to download the plugin. The first part of this guide says you don't need to download anything to use the Web Editor to load programs to your board, but then you keep reading and you realize that you do need to download the plugin.

It should be mentioned that you need admin privileges for the agent to work correctly. I tried to use the web editor without admin privileges, and discovered that the agent requires elevation.

I used the downloaded version of this software and I keep getting boot loader errors when I try to upload my code to the lily pad. Do you think that I should try the web editor and see if it works.:)

Anonymous user

I am disappointed that I can not, when editing code use the right click to paste as the menu forces the cursor to a position where "Paste" can be seen. It is complicated by my using a large font - 16 so that I can read test easily. I have difficulty closing a file or changing focus when more than one file is open.

@Niall please open a thread with your issue on our Forum http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?board=101.0 so we can support you. I can confirm that the library is reporting an error when importing but it seems a problem related to that specific library, not the online IDE

It is a very respectable project to solve complex and tedious work in the cloud. I also congratulate you on your work. I liked the idea of "Arduino Create" :)

It is the cause why i will not use web editor. Wemos d1 mini is a nice board but i can not share my projects with my children using web editor.

This is so cool and very useful. I hope that Arduino Web Editor will be more developed to detecting arduino boards connected to your network and upload sketch via the Ethernet Shield. Thank you very much.
