Did you build the robot? Is there any improvement to be done?

I have been trying for weeks to get this to work and I have not had any luck. Has anyone used this build and code successfully? Does anyone have a suggestion for what might be problematic with the code? When I run the code after enabling the output to the serial monitor I am getting values of 24-26 from my IR sensor when over black and values around 1020 when over white. I thought maybe the cut off value for the IR sensors was an issue or that the < should have been a >, but no changes there seem to help. My ultrasonic sensor seems to be working, giving me distances in cm that are accurate enough for me, but all the robot does is spins in a circle regardless of what color is under it or what is placed in front of it. Any help would be really appreciated. I am trying to get this to work for a class of 6th and 7th graders. Thank you in advance!
